We are beyond excited to have you participate in this year’s Adopt-a-Senior program. Your decision to spread joy and love to a local senior during the holiday season is truly heartwarming. These seniors often go without visitors or gifts, so your involvement makes a world of difference in bringing holiday cheer to their lives.
As you prepare to adopt a senior, remember that this act of kindness means so much more than just a gift — it shows someone that they are seen, valued, and remembered during the holiday season.
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions along the way! Thank you again for your generosity. Together, we can make this holiday season brighter for our senior community!
History
In 2022, WilmingtonMom partnered up with local care facilities to provide a little Christmas spirit for participants in need. Our list for Elderhaus participants were claimed in under 48 hours in 2022 and in just 2 hours last year. We were able to brighten the lives of 105 elderly in 2022 and 77 in 2023 in our area and now look forward to this each year.
How to Sign-Up
Please visit the links below to Adopt-A-Senior at one of the participating facilities. You will be able to see their name, gender, wish list and can sign-up using your name, email and phone number.
A few reminders:
- No candy as some are diabetic or have swallowing precautions. If they list sweets, cookies or soft sweets are acceptable. Nothing homemade, please.
- Feel free to include a card and special note and photos of your family! A return address is also sweet as some love to send thank you cards. If you wish, please include your address as many would love to send a thank you card for your thoughtfulness.
- Please no baked goods or food items (unless requested) as most have specialized diets.
- Gift wrap is strongly encouraged! The same wrapping paper will help care worker quickly identify whose gifts belong together. Also, please write their name and last initials on the outside of each gift.

Gift Guide:
- Music: Any kind of personal headset for entertainment is preferred since not everyone has the same taste in music. This affords each Residents the ability to listen to what they want and not be intrusive to room mates.
- Starbucks – Those who have this written there frequent the Starbucks because they can walk there independently and it affords them the chance to get out of the center.
- Soda : a few say sundrop and that is their beverage of choice, the rest prefer Pepsi. Yes they can have it, we just do not supply it because there is no nutritional value.
- Walmart: Residents get out at least once a month to stroll through Walmart. They are on fixed allowance as Medicaid recipients at $30.00 a month so those $5.00 and $10.00 gift cards make big differences to them.
Please drop-off all items before December 23, 2024
