Hey! I’m Amanda, and I’m thrilled to be your guide to family-friendly adventures in Wilmington, North Carolina! As a dedicated content creator for WilmingtonMom, my mission is to make your family’s time here unforgettable by showcasing all the exciting kid-friendly activities, events, and local gems that our coastal paradise has to offer.
My journey to Wilmington began when I moved here to attend UNC Wilmington in 2010. I fell in love with the charm of this coastal city and decided to call it home after graduating in 2012 with a degree in Communication Studies. While I grew up in a small town near Charlotte, North Carolina, Wilmington quickly captured my heart with its unique blend of city life and beachy vibes.
Fast forward to today, and I’m a proud mom of two amazing girls, who just so happen to be 26 months apart in age – talk about keeping me on my toes! They’re my constant companions on this adventure, and it’s a joy to introduce them to the wonders of living by the beach.
Becoming a mom reshaped my perspective on Wilmington. I realized there was a treasure trove of kid-friendly parks, playgrounds, and experiences waiting to be discovered – experiences that I hadn’t fully explored until my little ones came along. The pandemic ignited my sense of adventure, and that’s when the idea for WilmingtonMom was born. I wanted to share my newfound knowledge with fellow moms, whether they were new to motherhood or new to the area, and provide them with a roadmap to the best family-friendly spots in town.
My goal is simple: to connect parents, especially moms, who might be feeling the weight of isolation. Parenthood can be an overwhelming journey, and having a community to lean on can make all the difference. I’m here to share the best kid-friendly restaurants, family events, local businesses, and insider tips for thriving in Wilmington with young kids.Beyond the digital realm, I’m all about fostering real connections. Each month, I host Moms Night Out events where we can unwind, share stories, and create lasting friendships. I also organize play dates and family meetups to ensure that we’re all discovering the joys of Wilmington together.
When I’m not busy exploring Wilmington, you might find me indulging in my fascination with movies and shows filmed in this very city. I’m a chocolate ice cream enthusiast, and there’s nothing quite like lounging on the beach while my husband catches some waves.
You should know I love TJ Maxx, Marshall’s, Home Goods and Ross Dress for Less. I absolutely love a deal, am down with hand-me-downs and recycling, up cycling. I thrive on creativity – whether it’s crafting up a storm, trying out new recipes I’ve found on Pinterest, or planning unforgettable parties and events. Connecting with people energizes me, and I’m never happier than when I’m surrounded by friends, old and new.
