If you’re planning a family trip to Raleigh and want to be right in the middle of everything, Hyatt House Downtown/Seaboard Station should be at the top of your list. We stayed there with our 3 young kids and really enjoyed the property, the family suite had separate sleeping spaces for the kids in the living room area, included a full kitchen and a roomy bathroom. We really appreciated its close proximity to family attractions, the outdoor area/ pool space and the fact that a delicious breakfast was included.

🏠 Feels More Like an Apartment Than a Hotel Room
As y’all know, traveling with young kids can be tricky when it comes to all cramming into one room and hoping everyone sleeps at night.
We booked a family suites which comes with a full kitchen. We had a fridge, coffee maker, cooktop, microwave, dishes—basically everything we needed to keep snacks cold and make quick meals. You know, when you’re traveling with picky eaters or toddlers who suddenly need a snack right now, that kitchen is gold.
There’s also a good amount of space. We had a decent size living room with a view of downtown and pullout sofa, so the kids could crash there. The baby had her own nook for the pack-n-play and we still had our own bedroom and space to relax.
It was clean, comfortable and spacious!
Rooftop Bar – High Rail
After a day exploring downtown, we went to the hotels rooftop bar called High Rail. We had such a great experience. We tried the Hot N’ Now chicken and waffles, Seared Tuna Stacks, and the Primavera Flatbread, paired with two refreshing cocktails—and everything was delicious. The girls loved the food (we did too), and we all enjoyed the laid-back yet polished vibe. The rooftop patio is the real star—covered seating, a cozy fire pit with outdoor sofas, and a full bar serving up some seriously good signature drinks. Such a fun spot to unwind and take in the city views!

Pool and Outdoor Space
After dinner, we went down to the pool for an evening swim. We grabbed a beverage at the lobby bar and headed to the outdoor space, located right off of the lobby. Here you’ll find corn hole boards, pool towels, a propane fire pit and of course the pool. The girls met some new friends and played until it was time for bed.
The pool has a sundeck with chairs and then steps down to a 4ft area.

🍳 Breakfast Included
Breakfast is complimentary—which is always a win—and the variety was great: eggs, fruit, pancakes, bagels, a yogurt bar, oatmeal, cereal, and of course, coffee. Everything was clean, well-stocked, and there was plenty of seating. I’m a sucker for a good hotel breakfast buffet, and this one did not disappoint!

🚶♀️Walk to Everything: Museums, Parks, and More
What really makes this place great for families is the location. You can walk to most of Raleigh’s best kid-friendly spots, which means no wrestling with car seats and parking:
- Marbles Kids Museum is a 20-minute walk or 5 min drive (.8 mile away) and so worth it. Tons of hands-on stuff for little ones to climb, build, and explore.
- The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences is .5 mile away—dinosaur skeletons, live animals, and free entry.
- And Dix Park is nearby if you want to let the kids run wild in some green space or enjoy the new Gipson Park water play section. (7 min drive)

If you’re visiting Raleigh with kids and want to be close to all the family fun without giving up comfort, Hyatt House Downtown is a no-brainer. Between the roomy suites, full kitchen, pool, and walkable location, it checked every box for us.
Would totally stay there again—and maybe next time we’ll stay longer!
