Cleaning out your home and starting fresh in the new year? Maybe you have diapers and wipes you no longer need.

Supporting our local community is one of the most impactful ways to give back, and Wilmington, NC, is home to several incredible organizations that are dedicated to helping those in need & welcomes your gently used donations.

Here’s a closer look at these organizations, what donations they accept, and where you can find them:

2 Share inc. (Free pickup)

Mission: Furnishing hope; Through furniture donations and financial support, we strive to give people hope and dignity in their lives by providing them with basic furnishings (beds, tables, couches, chairs, etc.).

Donations Accepted: We will pick up donated items (in good condition) at no cost to you. 2SHARE then delivers, free of charge, to families in need in the Greater Wilmington area. A full list of items accepted on their website.

Assistance League of Greater Wilmington

Mission:Assistance League of Greater Wilmington is a nonprofit 501(c)(3).  Your contributions are fully tax deductible.  We are an all-volunteer organization therefore your contribution is maximized.  All donations stay in the Greater Wilmington area, benefiting adults and children in need through our philanthropic programs.

Donations Accepted: Proceeds from our Thrift Shop help fund our philanthropic programs.  Bring your donations of new or gently used items to our Thrift Shop.

Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity Restore (Free pickup)

Mission: Cape Fear Habitat ReStore is dedicated to helping build hope, homes and community. 

Donations Accepted: As donation centers, we can accept home goods, furniture, building supplies, and more.  Items are resold to help support our mission of affordable homes in our community.  Every donation and every sale makes a difference! Donations can be dropped off at all 3 Cape Fear Habitat ReStore locations or picked up for free by calling our Donations Hotline at 910-686-9800.

Diaper Bank of Southeastern NC

Mission: The DBNC Lower Cape Fear distributes diapers, adult incontinence items, and period products to support the dignity, health, and quality of life of Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover, and Pender County residents.

Donations Accepted: Our biggest donation needs are 3t/4t pullups, 4t/5t pullups, and baby wipes. 

Volunteer: Individuals can volunteer on Mondays and Wednesdays 10:00-12:00 during our drop-in hours, no advance registration needed. Great for groups and young helper approved!

Fresh Fruit Ministries

Mission: We share God’s unconditional love through outreach and supportive housing with people experiencing homelessness or human trafficking.

Donations Accepted: Non-perishable food items, gently used clothing, and toiletries.

Isaac Catholic Center Charities

Mission: To assist individuals and families in need with basic resources and guidance.

Donations Accepted: Non-perishable food, hygiene products, and baby supplies such as diapers and formula. If you are interested in donating material goods, you can drop them off at the entrance near the gym Monday through Thursday from 9 am til 11 am; please note we are no longer accepting large furniture donations. Call us at 910-762-5491, ext 135 if you have any questions.

Good Shepherd Center Wilmington

Mission: To feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, and foster transition to housing.

Donations Accepted: Non-perishable food, household items, and gently used clothing. Monetary donations are also welcome to support their shelter and job training programs.

Lifeline Pregnancy Center

Mission: To offer support and resources to expectant mothers and families in need.

Donations Accepted: Baby clothing, diapers, formula, baby food, and maternity items. They also accept larger items such as strollers and car seats (in good condition).To donate material items, please call (910) 392-0001 for current needs and accepted items.

Foster Pantry via Memories of A Child

Mission: Easing the transition of foster care in Southeastern NC

Donations Accepted: While we have been working hard to secure NEW donations for our foster youth, there are some gently used donations we often accept on an as needed basis such as cribs, infant equipment and certain sizes that we are running low on. 

Good News is – we have partnered with Memories of Child who will accept your gently used childrens items and provide us a generous credit to be used on items or sizes we currently need!

Vintage Values – Domestic Violence Center

Mission: To provide assistance and shelter to survivors of domestic violence through retail proceeds.

Donations Accepted: Gently used clothing, furniture, household goods, and small appliances

Vigilant Hope

Mission: To create avenues for people to practice living out mercy and justice in their city.

Donations Accepted: Non-perishable food, hygiene kits, and warm clothing. A high demand for hygiene and mens clothing!

Location: Lake Forest Baptist Church – 1626 Lake Branch Dr, Wilmington, NC 28401

The Hope Ministry helps provide clothes for the homeless and those in need at no cost. Clothing is available for women, men, children, toddlers, and babies. The Clothes Closet, located on the street level of the sanctuary building, is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00am – 2:00pm as well as on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month from 8:00am-10:00am. Have any items that you would like to donate? Donations are always accepted, and they can be dropped off during normal church hours.
