The Power of a Good Book: The Roasted Bookery Supports Williston Middle School

My name is Kate Ortiz, I am the president of the Williston Middle School PTA and I wanted to let you know about an upcoming event that we are all pretty excited about.
The Roasted Bookery, an independent bookstore located at 1102 Castle Street in the heart of the local cultural scene, is hosting an in-store fundraiser to benefit Williston Middle School on Saturday, February 21, 2026 from 10:00am – 4:00pm; and Sunday, February 22, 2026 from 12:00 – 4:00pm. Everyone is invited to participate.
10% of proceeds from that weekend will be donated to the Williston PTA in support of the education of all Williston Middle School Students. In addition, Williston teachers have created a wish-list of classroom and instructional materials available for purchase in-store and on-line through The Roasted Bookery.
The Roasted Bookery is an independent bookstore owned and operated by two former teachers, Jerry and Erin Jones, who describe opening a bookstore as fulfilling their “retirement dream.” The bookstore is unique to Wilmington as it intentionally amplifies the work of people of color and of the queer community, with an emphasis on building community.
Williston Middle School carries a significant historical legacy in Wilmington and is “Still The Greatest School Under The Sun.” This fundraiser reflects the vibrancy of the neighborhood, the joy of the school, and the loving support the local businesses provide to the entire Williston community.
Items in support of the fundraiser may also be purchased online at https://bookshop.org/shop/theroastedbookery. To learn about other ways the community can support Williston Middle School please visit https://williston.nhcs.net/.
